FIRST AID/CPR/AED INSTRUCTOR
The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED r.25 Instructor course train instructor candidates to teach basic-level American Red Cross First Aid CPR and AED courses. The purpose of the course is to prepare instructor candidates to teach the basic-level First Aid/CPR/AED courses in accordance with the latest program standards and instructional best practices.
This course is delivered in a blended learning format, which includes:
Online session: Approx. 2 hours 30 minutes (self-paced). Online material MUST be completed prior to attending the in-person session.
In-person session: Approximately 8 hours (not including breaks) course consisting of a skills session and , 2 teaching practice assignments.
To be eligible to participate in the course, the Instructor Candidate must:
Be at least 16 years of age on the last day of the course.
Possess a current basic-level Adult CPR/AED certification or equivalent or higher.
Certification Process To receive certification as a First Aid/CPR/AED instructor, you must:
Possess a current American Red Cross Adult CPR/AED certificate or equivalent. Please bring proof of certification to the in-person session.
Successfully complete the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor course online session.
Attend and actively participate in the in-person session.
Successfully complete the First Aid/CPR/AED skill practice and polish during which you will have an opportunity to practice your hands-on skills and demonstrate competency.
Successfully complete class activities, including the required practice teaching assignments. You will be given two practice teaching assignments, which will give you experience in preparing to teach lesson plans, presenting course information, using audiovisual equipment, conducting skill practice and assessment scenarios, evaluating performance, and participating in feedback and evaluation sessions. A certified instructor trainer will evaluate your practice teaching assignments.
Demonstrate instructor-level skill competency in all skills.
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive:
First Aid/CPR AED Instructor certification, valid for 2 years
Adult CPR/AED basic level certification valid for 2 years
